BLOW OUT KITS:

Click To Learn More About Tactical Medicine Training

Contents of the Blow Out Kit should be packaged in a small weatherproof container, possibly vacuum packed in plastic. The Blow Out Kit should be carried in a standardized location on the uniform or web gear. Try to use the casualty's Blow Out Kit to care for the casualty's wounds. Save your own kit for YOUR own wounds. Contents will vary according to operational environments and tactical needs.
Some suggested items include:

Battle dressing (preferably Israeli type or similar)

Occlusive chest seal (Vaseline gauze or Asherman type chest seal)

Tourniquet (combat application tourniquet or similar commercial type,
at the very least a Ranger Ring improvised tourniquet)

Nasal airway tube (and lube)

Cravat type bandage

Rollar type bandage

Vinyl gloves for protection from blood borne pathogens

Hemostatic "chemical-type" blood stoppers like QuikClot, Hemcon, or similar

Tape

Remember these are just tools. Tools without training are basically
worthless. You should train with the equipment you carry and
frequently review it's use. Reading the instructions printed on
the package is not enough! You must physically practice
the application and use of these materials.
